Summer Muscle Tightness? Here’s Why

Have you noticed your body feeling more tired or tight lately — even if you haven’t done anything intense? You’re not alone. Summer muscle tightness is surprisingly common, and it can sneak up on you. Between heat, changes in routine, and all the little extras we do this time of year, your muscles might be working harder than you realize.

I’ve been feeling it myself. Between sleeping in a different bed on a weekend trip, and hauling garden pots around the yard, my body started feeling sore in places that I had forgotten I had muscles!

Here’s what might be happening in your body too:

☀️ The heat drains us faster. Your muscles tire out more quickly when your body is busy trying to stay cool.
👣 We move differently in summer. From flip-flops to beach chairs to road trips, our usual movement patterns change — and our muscles notice
💧Dehydration can stiffen things up. When we’re even a little dehydrated, the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles) can get sticky and tight.  (learn more about hydration HERE).

That’s why summer is a great time to check in with your body — and give it a little extra support. Massage can help loosen tension, improve circulation, and give your system a reset so you feel more like yourself again.

If your body’s been whispering for some help lately, you’re not alone.  We’ve got your back! Come on in for a massage!
