It’s World Kindness Day!
Now this is a holiday I can really get behind! All of us could use a lot more kindness, and we can all benefit by being a kinder to ourselves as well.
World Kindness Day was founded 25 years ago by the World Kindness Movement. This idea was born when Japan brought together a worldwide group of like-minded kindness organizations in the fall of 1977. This movement has no political, religious or commercial affiliations. Their stated mission is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness and to connect nations to create a kinder world.
Kindness to ourselves matters too!
As we consider the important ripple effect of every #RandomActOfKindness that we do for others, this day is also a reminder of the importance of being kind to ourselves. This can be as simple as honoring your body with healthy food or taking a nap if you’re tired, or as deep as quieting the voices of self-criticism that might make their way into our thoughts dozens of times a day. That can be a tough one!
To help on your journey of Kindness, meditation teacher Carole Williamson is offering a FREE Loving-Kindness Meditation at our studio this Thursday morning at 9:30 am. This in-person meditation (masks optional) will be just 30 minutes long, and no experience is necessary. Yes, you can meditate!
Although this is FREE, we do ask that you sign up in advance, so we can make sure we can accomodate everyone who is coming. We also ask that if you can, please bring a non-perishable food item for us to donate to a local shelter for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. That would be a great #ActOfKindness.
Hope to see you this Thursday morning!! And read on below for other ways you can be kind to yourself this month!
With love and gratitude,
Donna and The Gentle Place Team.
