Hello Gentle Place community!
On Saturday September 23rd, I am again participating in Voices Against Violence’s Puple Passion Fundraiser, a 5K run/walk to support survivors of domestic violence.
Over 1 in 3 women (35.6%) and 1 in 4 men (28.5%) in the US have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. That’s more than 12 million women and men over the course of a single year.
And I was one of them. And chances are, someone you care about is or was one of them, too. Or perhaps that someone is you.
For those of us lucky enough to get out and move forward with our lives, the road can be difficult… and even dangerous. We need support. We cannot do it alone.
Voices Against Violence is a resource to help individuals and families ensure their safety, create stable home environments, gain independence, and develop personal and economic self-sufficiency. Their prior namesake, Women’s Protective Services, helped save my life back in 1992.
Please join me in making our homes and communities safer places by helping to end domestic violence. Sign up to walk, run or donate though the button below.
With gratitude,
